🐬 A Road Without Paths

There are no trails in the ocean, but that doesn’t mean there are no routes.

A pod of common dolphins (Delphinus sp.) moves through the waters of the Gulf of California. Dozens of individuals travel together, surfacing, breathing, and disappearing beneath the surface again in a matter of seconds.

Their leaps are the most spectacular part for us to witness, but they represent only brief moments within a much more complex behavior.

Dolphins are highly social mammals. They travel, forage, and respond to their environment as a group, maintaining a level of coordination that can suddenly transform a seemingly calm surface into an explosion of movement. 🌊

We never know exactly what we will encounter when we head out to sea.

And perhaps that is one of the best ways to understand a truly wild ecosystem: to observe it when no one has told it what to do.

The ocean is not a scheduled show. It is a living ecosystem.

Every tour is an opportunity to contribute to science. 🔎

Meet Machetón, one of the orcas identified in the Gulf of California.🫍

During our encounters with orcas, we photograph and identify their dorsal fins — a technique known as photo-identification that allows us to recognize individuals like Machetón and learn more about their age, social structure, distribution, movements, and population.

The photographs we collect are shared with scientific research projects to support the study and conservation of orcas in the Gulf of California.

By joining us to observe these incredible animals in their natural habitat, you’re not only experiencing an unforgettable encounter — you’re also contributing to the knowledge and protection of this remarkable species.

Les presentamos a Machetón, una de las orcas identificadas en el Golfo de California.🫍

Durante nuestros encuentros con orcas realizamos la fotoidentificación de sus aletas dorsales, una herramienta que nos permite reconocer a individuos como Machetón y aprender más sobre su edad, estructura social, distribución, movimientos y población.

Las fotografías que obtenemos se comparten con proyectos científicos para apoyar la investigación y conservación de las orcas del Golfo de California.

Así, al venir a observar a estos increíbles animales en su hábitat natural, no solo vives un encuentro inolvidable: también contribuyes al conocimiento y protección de esta increíble especie.

Sometimes, the ocean has other plans… and surprises us with ORCAS.🫍

Our Mobula Marine Safari in La Ventana is focused on exploring the incredible pelagic wildlife of the Sea of Cortez. And although mobula rays are our main focus, during June, July and August there is a good possibility of spontaneously encountering orcas.

But there is something very important you should know: orcas are wild animals, and no operator can guarantee an encounter with them. There are no schedules, routes or appointments with nature. We can search, read the conditions and use our experience in the area, but ultimately, the ocean decides. 💙

When we are fortunate enough to encounter them and conditions allow for a responsible interaction, our team can conduct in-water activities professionally and within the framework of the corresponding authorizations.

Our nature guides, captains and vessel have the necessary certifications, permits and documentation to conduct these activities responsibly, always prioritizing the welfare of the animals and the safety of our guests.

We don’t offer a “swim with orcas tour.”

We offer a Marine Safari, where every expedition is different and we never know exactly what the Sea of Cortez will bring us.

And some days… this happens.
