In Oaxaca, México, when a girl turns 15 years of age....her parents & godparents organize a Christian Mass, followed by a grand fiesta to present her to the world as an adult and celebrate with family & friends.....the girl first presents a dance with her best friends and then the dance floor explodes for all....and during the night....special gifts are given to the godparents such as a sheep, baskets of bread, fruits and also gifts are thrown to the crowds! A special fiesta into into the early morning as a unique celebration of happiness, family ties, godparenting traditions, community traditions and love!

San Miguel Huejotzingo in the District/County of Cholula, Puebla México is a viceregal jewel built in early XVI Century by Franciscan Friars. This early architecture includes a unique Passonary cross with syncretism from Mesoamerican & early Christian symbols "Sarmentosa' in early religious iconography and complemented by amazing corner chapels used by friars to rest the Holy Ghost in teaching processions outdoors before Natives acepted baptism & conversion.....the church & convent were covered with murals, including the 12 first Franciscans that arrived to the New World in 1524....

In Mexico City, parents take children to the post office so they can write the three kings their letter asking for the gifts they want the kings to bring them on Jan 6th....as that's the day gifts will be at their home nativity sets when they wake up! So children leave three glasses of milk, cookies for the kings when they arrive....

Every Spring the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, local Zapotecs celebrate traditional "Velas", which are fiestas in honor of Patron Saints & local heroes. One of the first Velas is celebrated in the shipping port of Salina Cruz in honor of Lorenzo Paulo, one of the XVIII Century Founders of the town. Due to the great business trade the New Spain made with Asia, via Philipinnes, galeons frequently anchored and brought great influences in cut out paper decorations, velvet, shellac goods as well as the colorful flower designs that remain in the beautiful dresses women wear at these fiestas that are famous in Mexican textiles.

Every year on Palm Sunday, a small community near the city of Oaxaca, Mexico has a fair of Tejate.....tejate is an ancestral drink made with corn masa/dough, a local flower called Rosita de Cacao and sweetened with the seed of a fruit called Mamey and/or malases.....
