La Picazon restaurant just a short beach walk north of Villa Linda Mar is a great way to experience the best of Loreto cuisine and obviously tequila.

We all have our secret spots. 🙊 One of mine is just a few miles up the coast from Loreto, an isolated beachside restaurant called "La Picazón." 😋 The journey there is a unique Baja experience— weaving through mesquite-filled arroyos, crossing the desert plain dotted with giant Cardon Cactus. 🌵Upon arrival, you'll be seated with a beach view overlooking Isla Coronado across the bay! We ordered a plate of the local chocolate clams and a couple of cold beers. Diego, the owner, offered a house specialty, their "illusionary tequila." 🥃
When the magic shot glass arrived, I was in for a surprise. I wasn't sure if the word illusionary referred to the spiritual powers of the tequila, but the sight of the giant shot glass made me realize it was named correctly. 👍
Before me is an illusionary vessel if I've ever seen one! There appeared to be a pint of tequila crammed into a giant shot glass! 🤠

Our friend Erik is an amazing videographer and has created yet again a video about our small town of Loreto and how caring everyone is about the environment.

Loreto has the most robust recycling effort that I’ve seen on the entire Baja California peninsula. At the center of this effort is Enviroclean, a recycling drop-off center located on the highway between the city of Loreto and Nopolo. I visited Enviroclean with the intention of making a video of Cesar (the man who runs the center) and Pablo (his co-worker) as they compressed tons of old plastic irrigation tubing into tight, little bales in order to ship the waste material to a recycling plant in Mexicali. When I arrived, the two men were preparing a large, dusty machine. I asked Cesar what the machine was going to do and he pointed to the loose mess of plastic tubing. He explained that the machine would take all of the loose, plastic tubes and hug them so hard that they would be turned into neat, small cubes for more efficient shipping. When Cesar used the word “hug” it triggered a memory in my brain. When I was a kid, I was brought by my parents to a recording session at a studio in Hollywood, where a group called “The Miracles” was performing their hit song “Love Machine”. I remembered one of the lines in the song was “I’m just a love machine… a huggin’, kissin’ fiend…”. Perfect, I thought. I had my background music for the video! The images you see in this video of The Miracles performing “Love Machine” is from the actual session I attended as a kid.
