A "cenote" (pronounced say-NO-tay) is a natural sinkhole created where a cave ceiling has collapsed, a window to this spectacular world. Cenotes were the only source of water in the jungle for the Mayan civilization and are considered sacred by the Mayan people. The Mayan considered cenotes to be an entrance to their "underworld" or "Xibalba" where their gods live and their spirits reside after death.

Cenotes are unique places full of magic. Please consider yourself a guest and act accordingly when visiting them. Respect the environment and leave no trace. Connect with the beautiful nature around you and appreciate every moment.

Hope everyone is grounded, calm and present in these peculiar times. 👏

That said, what's the first thing you'll do when this shift is settling down?

Uxmal is a unique archaeological site where you can find the Pyramid of the Magician, the Governor's Palace and the Nunnery Quadrangle, buildings where the god Chaahk is present everywhere, carved in masks.

Swimming in a cenote – one of the most beautiful natural formations on Earth. These magical sinkholes were created by the colossal asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. It hit the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, forming underground rivers that extend up to 215 miles in length. It has been estimated that the Yucatán Peninsula is home to thousands of cenotes.

Just chilling next to one of the Seven Wonders of the New World 🔺When you visit you’ll probably notice a lot of people clapping - they say that ‘If you clap once from one end of the Ball Court, it produces nine echoes in the middle of the court. Additionally, a clap in front of the Kukulkan Pyramid creates an echo resembling a chirping bird’
