Interesting facts about Mexico :

Their official name is not Mexico, but Mexican United States.
Even though it was created in 1821 it took 147 years to become official 1968.

Semana Santa 2025!

Easter week 2025

This is how the mass rescue drill by the city's emergency services unfolded.

The actions consisted of simulating an emergency aboard a catamaran full of people where a fire was breaking out.

Members of the security forces: the Red Cross, Mazatlán Fire Department, the National Guard, the Municipal Police Aquatic Rescue Squad, the Navy, Civil Protection, and the Public Security Department worked together to rescue, care for, and transport those affected by the fire.

Mazatlán closes the first quarter of 2025 with the arrival of 36 cruise ships, generating an economic impact of 212,860,640 pesos.

During the first three months of 2025, 137,873 passengers and 48,054 crew members arrived at the port.

The Zaadam visits the city today, carrying 1,394 passengers and 576 crew members, successfully closing out the month of March, which saw the arrival of 15 vessels.

In March alone, Mazatlán welcomed 57,579 passengers and 19,789 crew members, representing an impact of 27,828,800 pesos.

✅In January, the port was visited by 13 vessels with 48,351 passengers and 17,350 crew members, while in February, eight cruise ships visited the port with 31,943 passengers and 10,915 crew members. 👌

Sinaloa was founded as a state in 1831, after separating from Sonora, with which it formed a single entity.

Its annexation to the Mexican Republic occurred in 1824, as part of the nascent independent country, integrating the provinces of Sonora and Sinaloa into a federative entity called the Estado Interno de Occidente (Internal State of the West), with its capital in Villa del Fuerte.

To date, there is no fully accepted version of the origin and meaning of the word Sinaloa. The officially accepted version is the following, developed by historian Eustaquio Buelna: Sinaloa comes from the Cahíta word SINA meaning "Pitahaya" (pitahaya), LOBOLA meaning "round."

Its capital, Culiacán, originated in an indigenous settlement called "Colhuacán," which in Nahuatl means "place of those who worship the god Coltzín."

Mazatlán, its most important port, owes its name to the Nahuatl word "Mazatl-tlán," which means "place of deer."

Did you know that Pedro Infante was born in Mazatlán on November 18, 1917 in a small house located in the center of the city?
2. During his adolescence he lived in northern Sinaloa where he worked in carpentry, barbering, baking, shoe shining, music like his father, and even flew planes to spray fields.
3. He began his career as a singer at the age of 17 in an orchestra that he formed himself called La Rabia and he did it only out of economic necessity.
4. In 14 years of professional career he recorded 64 films and 458 songs.
5. He died in a tragic plane crash at 39 years old and his funeral was attended by more than 100 thousand people, it was a national mourning and the end of the golden age of Mexican cinema.
