Neopantli
Escultura mural inspirada en el antiguo tzompantli mesoamericano, reinterpretada desde una mirada contemporánea.
La pieza toma como referencia los antiguos muros de cráneos y Muro de Calaveras, de Manuel Felguérez, creando un diálogo entre memoria, muerte y transformación de los símbolos.
El cráneo está tallado a mano en madera de cedro por un maestro ebanista especializado en arte sacro. Se adhiere magnéticamente al herraje de acero al carbón de geometría cruciforme, ocultando por completo el sistema de fijación.
Neopantli fue concebida como una pieza modular: puede existir individualmente o repetirse para formar composiciones mayores, evocando el ritmo del antiguo tzompantli.
Cada pieza es única. La madera conserva sus vetas, nudos y variaciones naturales, haciendo que el material también forme parte de la obra.

Neopantli
A wall sculpture inspired by the ancient Mesoamerican tzompantli, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
The piece references the ancient walls of skulls and Muro de Calaveras by Manuel Felguérez, creating a dialogue between memory, death, and the transformation of symbols.
The skull is hand-carved from cedar wood by a master woodworker specializing in sacred art. It attaches magnetically to the cruciform carbon steel hardware, completely concealing the mounting system.
Neopantli was conceived as a modular piece: it can exist individually or be repeated to form larger compositions, evoking the rhythm of the ancient tzompantli.
Each piece is unique. The wood retains its natural grain, knots, and variations, allowing the material itself to become part of the artwork.
