Did you know about Chacahua?

The Lagunas de Chacahua National Park has been created in 1937. Accessible by boat from Puerto Escondio, the magnificent lagoon is a must-seen to every traveler thrilled by wildlife.

246 species of flowers and 189 species of animals have been documented so far in the park. Birds such as storks, herons, wild ducks, blue-winged teals, pelicans, and spoonbills can be found here.

Sitting on a small coastal plain between the Sierra Madre Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean, Puerto Escondido is the perfect beach hideout everybody dreams of: Sunny and warm year-round, surrounded by pristine beaches.

Its shorebreak is famous worldwide. Waves can get more than 30 ft high over here! But don't worry; there are plenty of spots to swim safely.

For more than 4 years, the Punta Zicatela Camp has been doing a great job to protect the marines turtles of Puerto Escondido.

They have collected and protected more than 80,000 eggs.

62,000 turtles had the chance to see the light of day thanks to their dedication.

The megadiverse countries are a group of countries home to the majority of Earth’s animal and plant species, several of them endemic.

Mexico alone harbors 12% of the World’s biodiversity.

The Centro Iguanario of Puerto Escondido was founded 17 years ago.

They have released more than 1256 crocodiles, 5800 iguanas, 550 parrots and 50 boas.

They have also contributed to reproduce 250 animals which are endemic to the region, such as birds, deers and turtles.

Despite significant progress, major challenges remain for education in Mexico.

In 2007, more than 3 million children from 5 to 17 years old were out of school.

In addition, between 1% and 2% of the Mexican population from 6 to 11 years work in the fields or suffer from a physical disability.

The Sierra Madre Occidental spreads over 932 miles. The mountain range meets the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt right after Santiago River. The Volcanic Belt crosses the country from East to West. The Sierra Madre Occidental is generally considered to be part of the much larger American cordillera, the mountains extending from Alaska down to these across Western North America.

The Sierra Madre Oriental is the second mountain range, located in northeastern Mexico. It spreads over 620 miles.
This long range of tall mountains is noted for its abundant biodiversity and large number of endemic species of plants and wildlife, from the dry north to the wetter south.
