BBC Names Loreto One of Best Places to Travel in 2026

Recently the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) posted their list of 20 best places to travel in 2026 and it included Loreto. With all of the amazing places to travel in the world, it is very impressive that Loreto made the list. "With its historic mission, whitewashed streets and the Sierra de la Giganta mountain range rising behind it, Loreto feels both small-town intimate and majestically expansive – a place where visitors can join a hopeful story of ecosystems recovering and communities leading the way."...

Loreto has been named one of the 20 best places in the world to travel by the BBC citing the history, the scenery and conservations efforts.

There has been a lot of news lately about Coca-Cola being made with corn syrup as a sweetener instead of pure cane sugar. This leads to talk of the "Mexican Coke" sold in some US retailers as it does use cane sugar. It is also sold at a premium price. Many just assume that all Coca-Cola produced in Mexico uses cane sugar and that just isn't true....

Anyone spending time in Loreto Bay gets used to unexpected water outages on an all too regular basis. Typically these are due to a leak somewhere in the system that requires large portions of Loreto Bay to be shut off for a few hours in order to complete the repairs. So when my water stopped working on the afternoon of January 6, 2025; I just assumed there was a leak somewhere....

OOMSAPA turned off water service to a number of homes for late payments that were their own accounting failure.

The next time you see the Loreto Bay skyline, there will be an extra large palm tree visible near the Loreto Bay Resort. No, it isn't the world's largest palm tree. It is a new cell phone tower. As of this writing, it is still being completed and is not yet online. As you look at the photo above, you'll see a temporary cell tower that has been in place for the last couple of years....

Loreto Bay is getting a new palm tree shaped cell tower and we share information and photos about this new addition.

Loreto was on the outer bands of Hurricane Hilary and received a large amount of rain and strong winds during most of Saturday August 19, 2023. By Sunday morning the storm was gone and the clean up began. The image at the top of this post was taken on a still overcast Monday morning (August 21). For the most part, Loreto had only minimal issues and should be back to normal by the end of the week....

A quick recap of the damage in Loreto Bay, Santa Rosalia and on the Baja highways caused by the passing of Hurricane Hilary.
