Back in Ithaki, Greece—on the ground, in the sea, and with the people who make this place what it is.

Getting to know the island more deeply is a vital part of how I prepare the next retreat.

Slowly, savoringly, following intuition and serendipity, with respect and amazement for being welcomed into such in an extraordinary ancient place.

Reconnecting with local friends, indulging in long, unexpected conversations with all kinds of strangers without rush, and following my nose in finding even more hidden places - both in the landscape and in the heart- that don’t show up on any map.

The promise of warm winter sunshine sifting through bamboo lattice walls while waves sing and jungle birds call us to gather for sunrise coffee before a luxurious yoga practice…Afternoons spent swimming and lounging in the clear warm ocean, or wandering local villages, long sunsets soaking in the colorful bohemian culture and the serenity of wild nature embracing every side. It’s a chance to dive deep into practice, to experience the warmth and friendliness of Oaxacan culture, to relax into jungle living in a beautiful eco-luxe retreat house with minimalist style, far from daily distractions and demands. With plenty of space for gathering, delicious brunches prepared with local produce and fresh catch by our in-house cook, dinners out in the many creative local restaurants in nearby villages . Walking everywhere. A jungle retreat with a little path straight onto a magnificent beach…. Hmm, it’s about time I finally have a Winter Yoga Retreat!
I was just waiting for the right spot. Nearest airport is Huatulco. Write me if you want to join this yoga-fueled glorious winter getaway!

In-between the planned lies the realm of serendipity. The magic of the unexpected, meetings with extraordinary people who seem like old friends you didn’t know existed, the unfurling of the untrammeled, and discoveries that burn brightly into the soul. A beautiful interstice of October in Italy.

Savoring and letting percolate the past two weeks of soft Italian mornings, of consistent practice, presence, a whole bunch of brilliant friends to play and commune with, beauty beyond reckoning, joyful exploration, bike rides and sea swims - it feels like a dream. It’s the magic of retreat in Puglia and I’m forever grateful.

These words from beloved Celtic philosopher/poet John O’Donohue say it well:
The Beautiful offers us an invitation to order, coherence and unity. When these needs are met, the soul feels at home in the world.

We just had the absolute best time roaming by slow and exploratory cycling (and feasting!) through the white villages, Baroque towns, olive groves and seaside fishing ports of Puglia.

Together with a wonderful retreat-gang of guest/friends- the new and the since-forevers, as well as my cherished local Italian team and friends, we wove yoga, cultural immersion and joyful exploration into each day.

Puglia delighted all with her exquisite sandy beaches bathed by crystalline seas, matched only by her open-hearted, friendly people with their gorgeous sense of style and unmatched culinary flair: It’s no wonder I keep returning year after year, bringing small bands of explorers to revel together in the life and the abundance of beauty of this luminous ancient land at the tip of the Italian boot.

It brings me joy to share my passion for these incredible places, to set the marvelous stage and bring all the characters and ingredients together, then let the magic flow and unfold.

There’s something indescribably satisfying to witness as each person, in their perfectly unique way, opens and feels themselves an integral part of a small world suspended between wonder, history, art and nature.
Thank you to everyone who joined, bringing your energy, spirit, and openness.
