IF you ever read something, read this!
Last month I was SO FORTUNATE to get to participate in this pilot program. I unloaded my plane at DFW that arrived from LHR, and was back at my next gate in about 7 minutes. Minimum immigration, NO Customs and NO re-entering through security. What is normally a 1 1/2 hour system took 7 minutes!! 👏👏👏
It was GLORIOUS. If I ever hope anything spreads like wildfire in an Oklahoma wind, it’s this!
In a major shift for international travelers, American Airlines has launched a trial program allowing select passengers arriving in the U.S. to bypass traditional customs and security checks. The initiative, which began Thursday, applied to travelers on American Airlines Flight 51 from London Heathrow to Dallas–Fort Worth who are connecting to another U.S. destination. Instead of heading to immigration and re-checking their bags, these passengers are processed at the gate and sent directly to their next flight — shaving connection times by more than 50%.
The pilot program is limited to connecting passengers only; those ending their journey in Dallas still follow normal procedures. This effort builds on earlier trials that allowed U.S.-bound passengers connecting through London to skip security before their next flight. By managing passport control at the gate and handling bags behind the scenes, American hopes to streamline the international-to-domestic transfer process without compromising security.
This new method marks a significant evolution for U.S. carriers, which typically don’t separate international and domestic travelers at the terminal level. American Airlines previously tested remote baggage screening for flights from Sydney to Los Angeles, but those passengers still had to clear immigration and security. With this London-to-Dallas route, American becomes the first to implement a full “One Stop Security” experience on a westbound transatlantic flight — a move that could reshape how travelers connect through U.S. airports in the future
