The Police Chief in Sonoyta, Miguel Angel Adrian Trujillo, recently announced crackdown on corruption - and says he welcomes calls with reports (he is bilingual): 52 811 660 2530. Remember speed limit is in Kilometers per hour - goes from 40 KMH (closer to border crossing) to 20 KMH through town (that's 25 MPH and then about 12 MPH!!). MASKS: Yes, wear them if more than 1 person in the car - also helps ward off police through Sonoyta. If you are stopped, all fines are paid AT THE POLICE STATION and yes, it is normal for them to hold your driver's license until fine is paid.
