As we have been publishing, the Mermaid’s Market has adjusted its dates from a strict “1st and 3rd Saturday” schedule to “Selected Saturdays.”

You will find us at the Shrimp Park/Plaza for our Season Finale on May 24th (Memorial Day Weekend).

The Mermaid’s Market has become an integral part of our community! Well known for its eclectic mix of artisans, craftspeople, and vendors offering a spectacular array of handmade goods, art, and local products. Providing a platform for local talent to showcase their creations and connect with our community.

This year we are very excited to be bringing back the Pirate “Takeover” at the Mermaid’s Market! It has been a few years, but once again the day will include Pirate and Mermaid Costume Contests! There will be CASH PRIZES along with other prizes in four categories: Adult Pirate, Adult Mermaid, Child Pirate, and Child Mermaid.

For this Season Finale on May 24th, we will also present live music throughout the day along with a few other surprises.

Looking back to the Season Finale event we had in 2017, there was a grand total of 20 vendors. Today, we average between 50-60 vendors. We have certainly grown over the years! And yet, at least seven of those original vendors are still with us – at nearly every market!

If you haven’t visited in a while, dig out that Pirate or Mermaid Outfit (whether you enter the contest or not) and get into the fun of the day!

Thanks to the 17 people (as of Monday) who have messaged or emailed us about their experience at the border. We know there is a lot of misinformation out there, we thought we'd share with you some of their experiences.

Not one person has reported a negative experience.

"We caravanned with 3 families this weekend. Guards said FMM stamps aren't needed and searched our car for guns. It took about 45 seconds and they thanked us when waiving us through. Same for the other 3 cars."

"No issues, they checked to make sure our registration was up to date. A short search and we were done. Our wait at the border Friday morning going to Mexico was 18 minutes."

"I usually bring tequila from states but didn't. Went to Sam's and it's cheaper. We ran out and went to Walmart. It was cheaper there too and got our steaks to cook."

"The last 3 weeks on Facebook has been bu****it. Going in there is nothing different than before other than the booze check - I snuck some in but it's still no different. No FMM check even when I asked where to go get one."

"Went back to US on Sunday at 4:15pm. We had a 30 or so second check by Mexican National Guard before pulling up to American agents. Total wait at the border was 13 minutes."

We could go on but we think you get the point. Thanks all for sharing and we encourage you to share your experiences with the Roger Clyne Fans of the Southwest page so others can hear how it's really going.

We will try to get you more info on rental cars. It's always been the case that if all the paperwork matches the driver's info on their ID, there is no problem entering - just make sure you have Mexican insurance on the vehicle. Although we've yet to hear of any issues, we'll pass along any change in enforcement as we hear it.
