One of my favorite places to grab a treat in Penasco is Candy Cake. They have the most delicious donuts and cakes with GF option and a wonderful lunch menu too!

This has to be one of the craziest things we’ve experienced in Penasco… WHALE 🐳 BONES 🦴!!!

This big fella had washed ashore and been buried, as usual… we came just in time to see these massive bones. So neat!!! (And also smelly)

People often ask me, “is it safe?” My answer is yes. The crime rate in Mexico and U.S. are about the same and it drops by over half in tourist cities like Penasco. I have personally traveled with a big group, with just my family, and I’ve made trips alone several times. The people have always been kind, their economy relies heavily on tourism which means that want return visitors.

Some honest details…
👮 Seeing the Federales does take some getting used to, but they really just stand there.
🛑DO NOT SPEED at the border (see photo).
💴 If you do speed and get pulled over, you just follow them to the station and pay a fine.
🥴Don’t be stupid, but that applies everywhere.

The kids never get enough of the banana boat! 🚤 You can hop on a ride at the private beach or get a whole load of folks going at one of the busier areas!

Tacos el Poblano is our favorite spot for tacos when we go! It’s so delicious! Super fast, easy menu, and you can eat a feast for a few bucks!

“This house was absolutely perfect for our family. It was a quiet neighborhood just steps from the beach and our family enjoyed walking to the beach, watching sunsets from the porch, and playing board games. We found a photographer that came to us and walked to the beach with us, capturing amazing photos. We will absolutely be back!”

Finding these cute blue cannonball jellies was so neat! Even the cutest jelly should not be touched though… I little shovel helped us yeet these guys back to friendly waters.

We are always in for a full kitchen setup on vacation. We like to stop by Bodega Aurrera on the way in for eggs, Chata chorizo, shredded Gouda, and fresh tortillas for breakfast at the house. You can’t beat spending $3 on a meal for 5!

Our kitchen is fully stocked and ready to fuel you for a day at the beach! (Or blend you a margarita when you get home!)

There are so many adventures to be had in Penasco! Try deep-sea fishing… it was astounding to me how fast we caught fish and the kids had so much fun learning. The crew was awesome and we took home a lot of fish to fry up!
