One of my favorite ways to enjoy an evening in Puerto Vallarta is with a relaxed seafood dinner beside the boats in Marina Vallarta. As the local owner behind The PVGirl, I love recommending this slower side of town to guests who want more than a rushed restaurant meal.

My local tip: arrive before sunset. You’ll get to watch the sky turn golden over the mountains, enjoy the fresh seafood while the marina is still glowing with daylight, and then linger as the boats and bay lights begin to sparkle across the water. I’ve spent plenty of mornings exploring Puerto Vallarta’s quieter corners, and a birdwatching walk through the Puerto Vallarta Botanical Garden is one of my favorite ways to slow down.

Under the tropical canopy, the garden feels worlds away from the busy streets. You’ll hear leaves moving in the breeze, spot flashes of color between the branches, and follow peaceful trails surrounded by palms, ferns, bromeliads, and flowering plants. Go early for the calmest experience and the best chance of seeing local birds before the day warms up.

My practical tip: wear sturdy shoes with good grip and bring water. The trails are beautiful, but you’ll enjoy them much more when you’re prepared for a real jungle garden walk.
