Campeche Mágico was filled with pirates' stories thanks to the amazing work of historian Victor Alfonso Medina Lugo! 🏴‍☠️

The city of Campeche is known for many things, one of them is its walls built to protect the city from pirates.

He took us back in time by sharing his amazing research with all of our guests!

In Mayan culture, the Toh bird symbolizes wisdom, guidance, and respect for nature.

It is believed to help people find water and safe paths through the jungle. The story of the Toh teaches moral lessons about humility, responsibility, and the consequences of pride.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗵 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱
According to an ancient Mayan legend, the Toh bird was once a beautiful and proud creature with long, colorful feathers. It lived among other birds and spent its time admiring its own beauty instead of helping the community.

One day, a powerful storm threatened the forest. All the animals worked together to protect their home, but the Toh bird refused to help, saying it would ruin its feathers. As punishment for its selfishness, the gods took away its brilliant plumage and condemned it to live alone in dark caves.

However, the gods also gave the Toh bird a special gift: it became the guardian of the sacred cenotes (natural wells). To this day, the Toh bird guides travelers through the jungle with its unique call and glowing eyes, reminding people of the importance of humility and cooperation.
