Legacy in the Ring: Abigail Contreras & The Rhys Ludlow Memorial Fund

We are proud to announce Abigail Contreras as a recipient of a $1,500 Harvest of Merit award, sponsored in memory of Rhys Ludlow. Rhys was known for his infectious laughter and his deep love for the "behind the scenes" of the livestock industry—from nutrition to breeding.

Abigail carries on that same spirit. A senior at Grace Davis High, she has spent nearly a decade perfecting her craft with market goats. Just like Rhys, Abigail finds her home at the local fair and on the ranch. We are honored to support her journey as she prepares for the Stanislaus County Fair this July!

I am honored to be selected as a recipient of the Live Like Rhys Ludlow Scholarship. Rhys and I were teammates and best friends while at Connors State College on the Livestock Judging Team. The values he lived by—dedication, kindness, and a passion for agriculture—continue to inspire me. Receiving this scholarship from his family is truly meaningful and appreciated.
I am currently a senior at Oklahoma State University majoring in Animal Science on a pre-veterinary medicine track. While at OSU, I am actively involved in the Pre-Veterinary Club, where I serve as a committee member. I plan to attend veterinary school and pursue a career focused on small ruminant reproduction. In May 2025, I earned my Associate of Science in Agriculture from Connors State College. I am grateful for the opportunities that have shaped my journey and honored to carry forward Rhys’s legacy through my education and future career.
