CORAL CEREBRO RUGOSO / MAZE BRAIN CORAL (Meandrina meandrites)
Encontramos esta colonia en perfecto estado de salud en nuestra inmersión nocturna en el arrecife de Villa Blanca a una profundidad de 13 mts
Esta es una de las especies más afectadas en la isla por la enfermedad comúnmente conocida como “síndrome blanco” que se observó por primera vez en 2018 y causante de la perdida de aproximadamente 40% de los corales duros (escleractinios) en el .
Esta especie de gran importancia para la construcción de arrecifes era muy común en los y desde 2019 es extremadamente rara. En cada inmersión buscamos colonias o reclutas (nuevos brotes) de esta especie, además de monitorear las pocas colonias vivas y sanas en los arrecifes de la isla, para nuestra sorpresa tenemos una colonia sana en el arrecife

Nuestra primera salida de campo de la "Capacitación de Voluntarios del monitoreo de Rayas Aguilas (A. narinari) 2020-2021, ha sido un éxito!!!!! En nuestro primer buceo tuvimos 45min de actividad de águilas y observamos un total de 16 individuos.
Gracias al Staff de Tortuga Carey, a nuestro capitan José y los nuevos voluntarios Angela, Miguel, Melanie y Lauren por su participación, interés y entusiasmo!!!

Our first field trip of the "Training of Volunteers for the monitoring of Spotted Eagle Rays (A. narinari) 2020-2021, has been a success !!!!! In our first dive, we had 45 min of eagle ray activity and we observed a total of 16 individuals.
