Our pangas rest quietly in the lagoon, surrounded by calm water and endless Baja landscapes.

Then, out of nowhere, a gray whale begins to approach us.

And she’s not alone.

Another whale follows beside her, both moving slowly toward the boats while everyone watches in complete excitement.

You can feel the anticipation, hear the reactions, the quiet disbelief of seeing them come closer on their own.

Our motor was off the whole time, and he still kept pushing the panga around for a good while.

Pretty interesting behavior to watch. After staying near us for a long time, he started moving the boat from side to side almost like it was a beach ball.

We didn’t do anything. We just stayed there and let him do his thing.
