What makes our canal float tour so spectacular is the fact that it is all ground water flowing out towards the ocean. The water has been filtered through the limestone and is crystal clear. When you enter the “river” to swim, there is a current and you are gently floated along the river through an area about 4-6 feet deep. Some of the residents of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve are very rare indeed, or even in danger of extinction. Birds like the red-footed bobo, brown bo***es, American anhinga, yellow-headed buzzard, reddish egret, peregrine falcon, American stork, the king vulture, osprey, barred ralon, water calandria, peak canoe toucan, the white-fronted parrot and the Yucatecan parrot can be found in the area.
