Meet the team! Sunny Dreams Travel has some exciting news!
I now have 2 new niche brands to introduce you to. Some of you already know Mary. My friend & SDT partner who's been working with me for the last few years. Her specialty niche brand La Semilla Travel focuses on reformative travel. She does luxury travel for clients as well as group retreats. Now, recently my Niece Isabella has joined me and created a niche brand with Sunny Dreams Travel called Trips by Bella. She will be focusing on Solo & Adventure Travel for groups as well as creating guided trip tours that you can join. Stay tuned for trips we’ve all created and join us for one of them. Planning to renew your Passport? Please don’t wait too long. Over the past few weeks it is taking MUCH longer to renew a passport. According to the State Department, the routine applications are now taking between 10 and 13 weeks, while expedited applications are now taking between 7 and 9 weeks. These timelines do not also include mailing times to be mailed back to you. The State Department said “It may take up to two weeks for applications to be mailed, and another two weeks for them to be received so routine applications could now take up to 17 WEEKS or more than four months, from time of mailing.
This is over double the time it was taking before.
The main reason for the longer processing time is the higher demand for passports. 2023 is on track to set the record for the highest year ever for passports. There are plans to try and lower those processing times. The State Department is “aggressively recruiting and hiring,” offering overtime to its current employees, and opening satellite offices to help process the large number of applications coming in.
The State Dept. had also been allowing some to renew their passport online. The online portal, which was technically still in testing mode, was open as recently as January, giving passport holders the chance to do everything online. However, that portal is now closed and while the State Dept. said they plan to roll it out fully sometime this year, that’s not an option for travelers right now. Still…the best thing international travelers can do right now is to apply for their passports as early as possible. Those who are traveling with less time to spare (within 2 weeks of the travel date) are able to schedule an in-person appointment at a regional passport agency in order to expedite the process. Those appointments can be scheduled only by phone. Applicants will be required to provide proof of travel when making the appointment such as a itinerary and travel confirmation which can be provided by your Travel Agency. Safe Travels my friends.

If your traveling to Mexico and using the CBX Border Cross Express Building thats located in Otay Mesa via the Tijuana Airport, you’ll be pleased to see some of the renovations they have done to improve your experience. They now have more than 10,000 parking spots available! They offer self-serve, reserved parking, street parking and 24-hour valet parking. They have doubled the number of automated gates for faster crossing. They now have 25% more processing stations to get your Immigration Form /I-94 permit even quicker. New Tijuana Airport processing facility has added an additional processing building of over 420,000 sq ft. to expedite your travel experience. They added additional security screening capacity for faster processing.
There is also an increase of airline counter area for a faster check-in and baggage drop-off. More transportation options like shuttle routes to Southern California, Arizona, and Las Vegas.
More shuttle frequencies to and from L.A. this season. Rideshare is available from the CBX San Diego terminal as well as new Car rentals terminals are now available in CBX San Diego. Let us know what you think the next time you are traveling to Mexico via CBX. Safe Travel Friends.
