Menariknya mengenai tasik ni, di tengah-tengah tasik ada pokok-pokok pine, spesies tempatan yang setengah tengelam dan hanya kelihatan bahagian atas pokok sahaja.

Hasil daripada gempa bumi yang membentuk tasik/empangan semulajadi ini lalu menenggelamkan gaung beserta isinya. Oleh sebab air gunung yang memenuhi tasik ini sentiasa sejuk, batang-batang pokok yang telah mati ini, terpelihara daripada reput.

Tahun depan kita akan ke Kazakhstan dan Kyrgyzstan untuk trip 9 hari 8 malam. Ring road daripada Almaty, pusing ke selatan masuk Kyrgyzstan dan kembali semula ke Almaty.

Kita akan stay satu malam dalam Yurt moden dengan kemudahan central heating dan tandas dalam yurt tersebut.

Day 6: Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan

After an overnight train from Moscow, we will arrive in Kazan just at noon. Kazan is the capital of Republic of Tatarstan. Some may call it as the 3rd capital of Russia too. Kazan used to be in a different time zone than Moscow. An hour ahead at UTC +4 rather than now at UTC+3 same as Moscow.

Do you know that Muslim in Russia is about 14 millions population. Mainly contributed by muslim population in Republic of Tatarstan (around central Russia), and in North Caucasus regions (south Russia) mainly Republic of Dagestan and Chechen Republic, and many more smaller republics in Russia.

Back to Kazan, the main place to visit in Kazan is the Kazan Kremlin. There are the iconic Qul Sharif mosque, Soyembika leaning tower, and Annunciation cathedral inside the kremlin. This is an important city because Ivan The Terrible commissioned the St Basil cathedral after his first won his campaign against Kazan Khanate. Kazan has fallen, St basil cathedral was first erected, until his campaign ended with few other khanates have fallen too. (If Kazan never fall, maybe no St Basil cathedral??😅who knows)

Other than Kazan Kremlin, the Ministry of Agriculture Palace is also one nice touch to the city look. From here if time permit, you can walk along Kazanka river, or head to the Baumann Street. Here, you can buy souvenirs special to Kazan, and a lot of nice restaurants along this street.

We have another train to catch at midnight to Ekaterinburg. You can have your shower in the train just before you sleep.
