Eibsee is a lake in Bavaria, Germany, 9 km southwest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and roughly 100 km southwest of Munich. It is 973.28 metres above sea-level and its surface area is 177.4 hectares. It is at the northerly base of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain.

The Zugspitze, at 2,962 m (9,718 ft) above sea level, is the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains and the highest mountain in Germany. It lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, and the Austria–Germany border is on its western summit. South of the mountain is the Zugspitzplatt, a high karst plateau with numerous caves. On the flanks of the Zugspitze are two glaciers, the largest in Germany: the Northern Schneeferner with an area of 30.7 hectares and Höllentalferner with an area of 24.7 hectares. Shrinking of the Southern Schneeferner led to the loss of glacier status in 2022.

Füssen is a Bavarian town in Germany, just north of the Austrian border. Its Gothic castle, Hohes Schloss, houses a regional art museum. The museum of St. Mang's abbey showcases Füssen's violin- and lute-making industry. The eclectic Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle lie southeast of the town. Nearby Tegelberg mountain has a ski resort, a panoramic cable car and an alpine slide.

The Forggensee, also called the Roßhaupten Reservoir, is a reservoir located north of Füssen in the county of Ostallgäu in Bavaria, Germany and one of many lakes in the region around Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles.

Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century historicist palace on a rugged hill of the foothills of the Alps in the very south of Germany, near the border with Austria. It is located in the Swabia region of Bavaria, in the municipality of Schwangau, above the incorporated village of Hohenschwangau, which is also the location of Hohenschwangau Castle. The closest larger town is Füssen. The castle stands above the narrow gorge of the Pöllat stream, east of the Alpsee and Schwansee lakes, close to the mouth of the L**h into Lake Forggensee. Since 2025, the castle has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "The Palaces of King Ludwig II of Bavaria: Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, Schachen and Herrenchiemsee". According to Guinness World Records, at 65 metres (213 feet), it is the tallest castle in the world.

Iceland is often called the land of ice and fire because it has both glaciers and volcanoes. A glacier forms when snow builds up over centuries and turns into moving ice. These vast fields of ice hide volcanoes and create lagoons where icebergs drift toward the sea.

What is a glacier: A large, slow-moving body of ice formed from compacted snow. In Iceland, glaciers shape the land and sit atop active volcanoes, creating a mix of fire and ice.

How many glaciers are in Iceland: Around 269 named glaciers, from massive ice caps like Vatnajokull to smaller outlet glaciers.

How much of Iceland is covered by glaciers: About 11% of the country. Vatnajokull alone spans roughly 8%.

How old are glaciers in Iceland: Most formed about 2,500 years ago. Some parts of Vatnajokull contain ice that is thousands of years old.

Are Iceland’s glaciers melting: Yes. Since 2000, glaciers have lost over 7% of their total volume. Some smaller ones could disappear within the next century.

Eltz Castle is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle between Koblenz and Trier, Germany. It is still owned by a branch of the House of Eltz who have lived there since the 12th century. Eltz Castle along with Bürresheim Castle and Lissingen Castle are the only castles in the Eifel region which have never been destroyed.

Ladenburg’s historic old town speaks for itself: the medieval town fortifications, the picturesque half-timbered houses and the narrow alleys show the town’s eventful history just as much as the market basilica and the well-preserved thermal baths and temples. Founded by the Romans over 2000 years ago, Ladenburg was a central trading town for a long time. The listed old town is also famous as the place where Carl Benz worked. Interested visitors can visit the Carl Benz Museum in Ladenburg, the oldest garage in the world and the car inventor’s home. Nowadays, Ladenburg is considered an important business location for many international companies as well as a popular place to live due to its proximity to Mannheim and Heidelberg.
