Morning light led our wheels gently north, from Alor Setar toward Kuala Kedah, where the day begins quietly and the land still breathes at its own pace.
We rode across endless paddy fields, their young greens catching the first gold of sunrise. A soft breeze carried the scent of earth and water, and the rhythm of pedalling matched the calm of the countryside. Crossing the bridge, the river opened up before usโwide and unhurriedโfishermen already at work, boats rocking gently as the town slowly stirred awake.
The ride ended at the historic Kuala Kedah Fort (Kota Kuala Kedah), standing firm by the river mouth, a silent witness to centuries past. Built in the early 17th century, around 1611, the fort once guarded Kedah from invaders and pirates, and today it watches over cyclists, fishermen, and passing days alike.
A morning ride like this is never just about distanceโitโs about moving through history, nature, and friendship.
