Initiative for Butterfly Ecosystem Conservation Through Artificial "Puddling" Construction: A Case Study of the Orang Asli Community of Kampung Batu, Ulu Geroh

In an effort to preserve the integrity of the increasingly threatened butterfly ecosystem, an artificial 'puddling' construction project has been implemented with the close collaboration of the Orang Asli Community of Kampung Batu, Ulu Geroh.

This project utilizes the local ecological knowledge and traditional skills of the community to realize a unique and rarely applied conservation method.

As a mega-biodiverse country, Malaysia has a global responsibility to ensure ecosystem sustainability. This initiative not only supports , but also showcases a conservation model with the potential for replication in other locations.

The framework is applied to ensure effective knowledge transfer between the community and stakeholders. This is part of a strategy to strengthen the support system for the holistic and continuous conservation of Geopark Lembah Kinta

Through the approach and the involvement of higher education institutions, this project opens up opportunities for and experiential learning for students. They have the opportunity to gain knowledge from experienced 'nature guardians', thereby integrating into the academic framework.

We call for continued support from various parties to jointly protect and our natural heritage for the benefit of present and future generations. Support this effort in and .

Melindungi Keajaiban Rafflesia: Kearifan Orang Asli Melindungi Alam

Pernahkah anda terpesona dengan keindahan Rafflesia, bunga terbesar di dunia? Malangnya, keindahan ini sering terancam oleh gangguan monyet, yang boleh merosakkan kuntuman yang rapuh ini.

Di sinilah kearifan Orang Asli tempatan bersinar. Mereka telah lama mengamalkan kaedah unik untuk melindungi Rafflesia daripada gangguan monyet, satu bukti hubungan harmoni mereka dengan alam semula jadi. Salah satu kaedah mereka adalah dengan mencipta kepungan atau samaran di sekeliling bunga menggunakan bahan-bahan semula jadi. Tindakan bijak ini menghalang monyet daripada mendekati dan merosakkan bunga yang juga kelihatan seperti ada jerat.

Kaedah inovatif ini bukan sahaja melindungi Rafflesia tetapi juga menekankan pentingnya pelancongan yang bertanggungjawab. Denai yang kita lalui boleh menjadi tarikan kepada monyet, yang membawa kepada gangguan yang tidak diingini. Sebagai pelawat, adalah penting untuk menghormati ekosistem yang rapuh dan meminimumkan kesan kita.

Kisah Orang Asli dalam melindungi Rafflesia adalah contoh yang baik tentang pemuliharaan alam semula jadi. Ia adalah bukti bahawa dengan penjagaan dan penghormatan, manusia dan alam semula jadi boleh wujud bersama secara harmoni.

Perkembangan Terkini di Gua Tambun: Tapak Warisan & Geotapak Kebangsaan - Sayangi dan Pelihara Keunikan Kita !

Terbaharu dari tapak warisan Gua Tambun!
Penambahan 3 pondok rehat oleh pihak Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh meningkatkan kemudahan pengunjung untuk menikmati keindahan tapak bersejarah ini.

Denai laluan juga ada melakukan penstrukturan tebing untuk sedikit tambah kepada kemudahan perjalan kaki , namun keseluruhan perancangan kawan ini tidak diketahui.

Tetapi yang lebih membimbangkan adalah keadaan lukisan prasejarah yang semakin terancam dengan hakisan akibat luluhawa serta aliran air, Konservasi intensif sangat diperlukan untuk memelihara warisan dan Geotapak ini. "Sayangi dan pelihara warisan, tanggungjawab kita bersama!" Setidaknya bermula dengan sikap orang awam yang sentiasa

Ventrex meneruskan inisiatif Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) dengan melaksanakan aktiviti meninjau tapak sebagai satu rutin untuk menyumbang kepada konservasi dan pembangunan komuniti Geopark Lembah Kinta lebih stabil dan konsisten.

Kerjasama pelbagai pihak kunci utama melindungi warisan unik Gua Tambun. Mari bersama memain peranan dalam melindungi warisan berharga ini!

Save Our Prehistoric Rock Art!

Our team alongside with University Malaya (UM) experts and Geoguides of Geopark Lembah Kinta , is launching an emergency 3D scanning project to rescue our invaluable rock art. Harmful mud applications, intended as protection, are causing irreversible damage, obscuring these irreplaceable cultural treasures.

We're employing cutting-edge 3D scanning to create precise digital archives, ensuring the art's preservation against destructive interventions. This initiative enables scientific analysis and non-invasive monitoring, a sustainable alternative to damaging traditional methods.

This project embodies Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR), empowering locals to collaborate with experts. Through comprehensive training and awareness programs, we’re driving Knowledge for Change (K4C), fostering understanding of rock art's fragility and the dangers of improper conservation.

For three years, we've tirelessly protected this heritage, facing challenges without sufficient support. We urgently appeal to government agencies for recognition and aid. This initiative is crucial for the long-term preservation of our shared cultural legacy.

"Witnessing the power of collaborative research in action! We are deeply honored that Geopark Lembah Kinta and Kampar have been chosen as the research site for the 2025 Geography Field Study, taking place from February 23 to March 1, 2025. This study tour focuses on the Geosite at Gua Tempurung, Changkat Tualang, and Biodiversity site Kg Orang Asli Ulu Geroh, Perak.

This research is part of the USM K4C Hub, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in collaboration with Ventrex Outdoor Recreation, utilizing a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach.

The study’s focus on geosite ecosystem services not only strengthens our understanding of the scientific and heritage value of these areas but also contributes to conservation and sustainable development through community engagement.

We deeply appreciate the support and collaboration of all parties, including local communities, researchers, and strategic partners, in making this study a success. We hope that the findings from this research will benefit academia as well as efforts in preserving Malaysia’s geological heritage and ecosystems.

With interpretation experiences from Lenggong Man, GeoGuide Cikli, the Young Rangers' adventure became more unique and full of fascinating discoveries!

From tracing prehistoric human remains to exploring the meteorite impact in Bukit Bunuh, this experience certainly opened their eyes to the wonders of GEOLOGY and ARCHAEOLOGY.

📸 Highlights of activities that sparked curiosity:
✅ Visit to the Perak Woman site – getting to know ancient humans!
✅ Meteorite impact location and Toba ash – understanding the extraordinary impact of nature!
✅ Visits to the Geopark Gallery and Archaeology Gallery – The geological and archaeological impact of Lenggong on the world!
✅ River experience - searching Brotia snails, ancient peoples diet
