Dusky leaf monkey
*Scientific name: Trachypithecus obscurus
* Also known as: Dusky langur / Spectacled langur
* Malay name (Malaysia): Lotong Cengkung

The Dusky leaf monkey is a species of leaf monkey found in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, southern Thailand, and parts of Myanmar.

Characteristics:

* It has dark grey to brownish-grey fur.
* It has distinctive white rings around the eyes, which look like spectacles.
* Baby Dusky leaf monkeys are born with bright golden-orange fur, which gradually changes to the adult grey colour as they grow.
* Its diet mainly consists of leaves, young shoots, fruits, and flowers.

Behaviour and habitat:

* It is a diurnal (day-active) primate, usually more active in the morning and late afternoon.
* It lives in groups and spends most of its time in the forest canopy.
* It is generally shy and avoids close contact with humans, unlike macaques.
* It plays an important role in the forest ecosystem by helping with seed dispersal and maintaining forest biodiversity.

In Taman Negara, spotting a Dusky leaf monkey is a great wildlife experience because it indicates a healthy forest environment with good tree canopy habitat.

大家看到前面那只——那是 Sambar Deer，中文叫水鹿。

它是马来西亚森林里体型最大的鹿类之一，有时候可以长到像一头小牛那么大。你们现在看到它在晚上活动，其实是很正常的，因为水鹿是夜行性动物。

😉🌖🌝为什么它晚上才出来？
白天森林太热、人类活动也多，所以它们通常会躲在森林深处休息。
到了🌝晚上比较凉快、安全，它们才出来觅食，吃草、嫩叶🌿🌱，有时候也会靠近

😋小知识（可以增加趣味）
📌水鹿有时候会发出一种低沉的声音，像“警告声”，是在告诉附近的动物：
👉 “这里可能有危险（比如老虎）” 🐅

‼️所以在森林里，听到这种声音，其实是在“偷听动物的通讯”⚠️🙊🙈 动物互相保护的联系方式☎️📞

Everyone, take a look ahead—that animal you see is the Sambar Deer

It is one of the largest deer species found in Malaysia’s forests, sometimes growing as big as a small cow. Seeing it active at night is completely normal, because the sambar deer is a nocturnal animal.

😉🌖🌝 Why does it come out at night?
During the day, the forest is hot and there is more human activity, so they usually rest deep inside the जंगल.
At night 🌝, when it’s cooler and safer, they come out to feed—eating grass, tender leaves 🌿🌱, and sometimes staying close to water sources.

😋 Fun fact (to make it more interesting)
📌 Sambar deer sometimes make a deep, low sound—like a “warning call.”
👉 It’s actually telling other animals nearby:
“⚠️ There might be danger around (for example, a tiger 🐅).

‼️ So when you hear this sound in the forest, it’s like you’re eavesdropping on animal communication ⚠️🙊🙈
