Rollulus rouloul
Rollulus rouloul is a small-sized bird with measurements around 25.5 cm in length (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993). The male partridges have glossy blue with brown wings, maroon crest and red bill while the females are green with grey head and brown wings. The partridges like to move in groups of 5 – 8 birds and foraging largely on small insects, seeds and fallen fruits on the forest floor. The partridges produced a high-pitched call sound ‘su-il’ repeated especially at dawn. This species is endemic to Sunda land including Peninsular Malaysia and commonly inhabits the lowland forest up to lower montane forest.
