A rare sighting of the Crested Fireback at Trusan Sugut Forest Reserve. Deep within the rainforest, this forest-dwelling pheasant moves quietly across the leaf-covered ground, foraging for fruits, seeds, and insects. The male stands out with his glossy blue-black plumage, elegant crest, and vivid red facial skin, while the female’s warm brown tones allow her to disappear seamlessly into the undergrowth. Though capable of flight, the Crested Fireback prefers to run, taking only short bursts into the air when disturbed. Nesting is done on the forest floor, carefully concealed among dense vegetation , making encounters like this in Trusan Sugut truly unforgettable.
