My 10th time climbing Mount Kinabalu, and it was also the first time I experienced such heavy rain during the 6km trek to Panalaban on Day 1! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

So donโ€™t worry โ€” even if it rains on the first day, you can still make it safely up to the mountain hut. โ›ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

Luckily for us, the weather cleared up beautifully during the summit push in the early hours of Day 2. We were rewarded with breathtaking views and an unforgettable sunrise! โ˜๏ธโœจ๐ŸŒ„

Sabahan Kind of Protein During Mt. Kinabalu Hike ๐Ÿ˜‚โ›ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ›

Butod is a traditional Sabahan delicacy made from the larvae of palm weevils found inside sago palm trees โ€” so yes, itโ€™s actually safe to eat hahaha ๐Ÿ˜†

This time, we decided to add some extra โ€œproteinโ€ during our Mount Kinabalu hike at the basecamp and it was also my very first time trying Butod ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”ฅ

At first I was still acting braveโ€ฆ but the moment I saw it wiggling, I immediately flinched ๐Ÿคฃ

In the end, one of the climbers that day bravely offered to help pick up the Butod ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘
