This used to be a football field. ⚽

Today, it’s helping feed Borneo’s elephants.

Along the Kinabatangan River, this open space has been transformed into a grassland planted with Napier and Berau grass — two of the favourite foods of Borneo’s elephants.

Now, these gentle giants stop here to feed and recharge during their journeys along the river.

Sometimes, a small change in land use can make a big difference for wildlife. And from the looks of it… the elephants are giving it a big trunks-up. 🐘💚

Wildlife sighting today 🦦

A playful group of wild otters appeared along the riverbank during our cruise, darting in and out of the water while keeping a curious eye on the boat. These moments are always special — otters are fast, energetic, and not always easy to spot, so when they show up it’s always a highlight for our guests.

Watching them swim, hunt, and play in their natural habitat is a reminder of how alive the river truly is. Encounters like this are what make every trip along the Kinabatangan so exciting — you never know what the jungle will reveal next.
