Notes from Those Left Behind Vladivostok
Walking through the streets of Vladivostok at night, we discovered another side of this great port city. Even on an ordinary weekday, the city is alive , and when the weekend comes, the nights seem to shine even brighter.
Sailors step ashore, finally able to relax and enjoy themselves after spending months at sea, tossed between waves, wind and storms. Families fill the streets, and even as midnight approaches, little children are still out with their parents , running around, laughing, and simply enjoying being together.
Perhaps that is why the loneliness doesn’t feel quite so heavy tonight.
One by one, our friends have already left for home, leaving behind a quieter hotel, quieter mornings, and those of us who still remain here. Yet watching these children laughing with their families somehow warms the heart. Their happiness reminds us of the families waiting for us too, somewhere far away.
Vladivostok will forever remain the final chapter of Trans Siberia 5 , the place that stands as proof that our mission was accomplished.
But every ending carries the beginning of something new.
The final stop of this expedition simply means that, somewhere ahead, another journey is waiting to begin.
We don’t know when , or if , our roads will ever bring us back here again. But Vladivostok will remain forever in our memories, not merely as a destination on a map, but as a deeply personal chapter in our lives.
We arrived here after thousands of kilometres, countless roads, mountains, borders, laughter, challenges and unforgettable moments.
And now, it is almost time to say goodbye.
Until we meet again, Vladivostok.
