The most famous "face cream" in Myanmar doesn't come from a bottle. It comes from a tree!

Thanaka, a natural paste made by grinding the barck of the Thanaka tree with a little water. For more than 2000 years, people across Myanmar have applied it to their faces as part of their daily lives.

Beyond helping to keep the skin coll and providing natural sun protection, Thanaka is a symbol of tradition, identity, and heritage. You'll often see children, adults, and even elders weating it, sometimes decorated with beautiful leaf or floral patterns.

It's a woderful reminder that culture isn't only found in historic buildings. It also lives in the everyday traditions passed from one generation to the next.

Sometimes, the simplest traditions tell the richest stories.
