​Ever wondered about the story behind Malaysia’s very first coins?

The First Series of Coins

​Issued on 12 June 1967, the first series of Malaysian coins carried deep meaning and national pride in every single piece. Whether it was the 1 sen or the 50 sen, these coins were designed to reflect the heart of the nation. (The $1 coin later joined circulation on 1 May 1971!)

​Here is the beautiful symbolism hidden in their design:
🏛️ The Parliament Building: Depicted on the reverse, symbolizing the Malaysian people's unwavering faith in democracy.

🌙 The Crescent: Representing Islam, the official religion of the nation.

⭐ The 13-Pointed Star: Symbolizing Malaysia’s 13 component states standing together.

🌺 The Bunga Raya: Gracing the obverse (front) of the coin alongside the word 'Malaysia' and the minting year, proudly displaying our national flower.

​Every time Malaysians made a transaction, they were carrying a piece of the nation's identity!

The True Story Behind Kuala Lumpur's Iconic Skyline! 🇲🇾✨

​We all recognize the PETRONAS Twin Towers, but how much do you really know about the history of these 88-storey marvels? Here are some incredible facts about their journey from the ground up:

​📐 The Masterful Design: Conceived in 1992, the towers were designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli. To reflect Malaysia's Islamic culture, the footprint of the towers is based on the Rub el Hizb—a geometric symbol featuring two interlocking squares that form an 8-pointed star. This shape represents unity, harmony, stability, and rationality.

​🏗️ Record-Breaking Foundations: Built on the site of a former race track, the project required an enormous foundation. The single largest concrete pour in Malaysian history took place over 54 continuous hours, using roughly 13,200 cubic metres of concrete to create a foundation that extends roughly 400 feet below the surface!
​🏁 An Epic Construction Race: To meet a strict six-year deadline, two different construction consortiums were hired. Tower 1 was constructed by a Japanese company, while Tower 2 was built by a South Korean firm, resulting in a fierce race to the top!

​🏆 Ruling the World: Reaching a staggering height of 451.9 meters (1,483 feet), the Twin Towers officially held the title of the Tallest Buildings in the World from 1998 to 2004. Even today, they remain the tallest twin buildings on the planet.
