For a month, indigenous communities celebrate the ancient beliefs and the story of Huminodun: a mythical maiden, said to be the daugther of the Creator Kinorohingan. According to the legend, when famine struck the land, Huminodun sacrified herself, so that her body could norish the earth. Through her spirit, rice and essential crops were born. During this time, thanksgiving, remembrance, and renewal are also highly valued.

This breathtaking building stands as a dinstictive interpretation of British Raj architecture, combining Mughal, Moorish and Gothic influences and was built from 1894 until 1897. It served as a centre of governance after witnessing a defining moment in Malaysia's history - the lowering of the nion Jack and raising the flag of the Federation of Malay, marking its independence.

Happy Celebration to the animals that survived dinosaurs, ice ages, and mass extinctions - Turtles!

In Malaysia, you can see them up-close and swim with them on Redang Island or Tioman Island. Malaysia even has a 'Turtle Island': Selignan Island ist part of the Turtle-Island National Park and part of a conservation project. In small numbers, visitors can observe when the turtles lay their eggs and how the young turtles hatch! All while learning many more facts about those breathtaking marine animals.
