Metaway Travel Supports the SDG EcoCoast Mangrove Restoration Project
In conjunction with World Mangrove Day, observed annually on 26 July, Metaway Tours & Event Sdn Bhd was proud to actively support and sponsor the SDG EcoCoast Mangrove Restoration Project, turning our commitment to sustainability into meaningful action.
This initiative was more than a mangrove-planting activity. It brought together organisations, community groups, corporate partners and volunteers with a shared purpose—to restore coastal ecosystems and contribute towards a more sustainable future.
During the activity, participants stepped into the mangrove area and personally planted young mangrove trees. Each seedling represented a practical contribution towards rehabilitating the coastline, strengthening the surrounding ecosystem and creating a healthier natural environment for future generations.
Mangroves are among the most valuable coastal ecosystems in the world. They provide essential habitats and breeding grounds for fish, crabs, molluscs, birds and many other species. They are also powerful natural carbon absorbers, helping to capture and store carbon while supporting global efforts to address climate change.
Their complex root systems stabilise coastal soil, reduce erosion and serve as a natural protective barrier against strong waves, storm surges and other coastal threats.
Protecting mangroves therefore means protecting:

为配合每年 7月26日“世界红树林日”（World Mangrove Day），Metaway Tours & Event Sdn Bhd 积极参与并赞助 “SDG EcoCoast Mangrove Restoration Project 红树林生态修复计划”，以实际行动支持环境保护、生态修复与永续发展。
这次活动不仅是一场红树林种植行动，更是一项凝聚社会各界力量、共同守护海洋与海岸生态的重要倡议。活动现场汇集了来自不同机构、社团及企业的参与者，大家亲手将一棵棵红树苗种入泥土，为修复沿海生态环境贡献力量。
红树林是海岸生态系统中不可或缺的一部分。它们不仅是鱼类、螃蟹、贝类、鸟类及其他野生动物的重要栖息地，也能够吸收及储存大量碳元素，有助于减缓气候变化。同时，红树林密集而坚固的根系能够稳定泥土、减少海岸侵蚀，并形成天然屏障，降低海浪与风暴潮对沿海地区带来的冲击。
因此，保护红树林，不只是保护一片树林，更是在保护：
