The subtle half smiles and awkward shuffles, silent gasps and heavy breathing are often lost in the distance between the seat and stage. The Classroom Project aims to bring the audience closer to the actors in new and immersive ways. Based in IIUM, we plan to stage a minimum of two short plays a semester with a mix of original and notable plays, in both English and Malay. Our main aim is to add an
other layer to the varsity theatre scene through our creative efforts. So far we've had a great time organising workshops and producing plays, namely, FOURPLAY (2014), TOO LATE FOR FRUITCAKE (2015), and GOD OF CARNAGE (2015). Because we're mere university students who lack the money, experience, work ethic, money, theatre space, and resources (read: money) to stage all the plays we'd like, we're relying on the kindness of strangers and friends to help us along the way. If you're interested in joining the team or contributing in any way you can contact Arief Hamizan (0166864014) or Suhail Samsudin (01119441826) depending on who you prefer.
