Being blessed with beautiful warm weather all year-round, Malaysia is the perfect place to enjoy theme parks and water parks. In the past few years, several exciting new theme parks have sprouted up all over Peninsula Malaysia. Many of these theme parks provide great fun for the whole family, sometimes offering a resort or shopping mall nearby.

Although all these parks are very different, they all share state-of-the-art design with fun and safety being priorities. Many of them incorporate sophisticated water parks, zoos, rides-galore and golf courses among other things.

Genting Highlands, just 54 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur is a fairly recent hill development. Its concept is very different from the other hill resorts. Perched on 2,000 meters above sea level along the Pahang - Selangor border, Genting Highlands offers an exciting range of activities that are fun, fast - paced and entertaining. Themed as a City of Entertainment, the resort is popular with day trippers and visitors seeking to indulge in a realm of fantasy around the clock.

Genting Highlands was founded in 1965. Over the years, a wide range of entertainment,leisure recreational and sporting facilities as well as hotels, condominiums, apartments and camping facilities, were added. The resort comprises attractions at different elevations. At the peak lies the Genting Theme Park and Casino de Genting, while lower down at around 1,000 meters above sea level is the Awana Golf Course, a cable car terminal, a horse ranch and an eco-park.

1. Skyways Cable Car Ride
The 20 mins cable car ride ascending from 914 meters to 1,768 meters provides sweeping views of the beautiful mountain scenery.

2. Eco-Sports
Awana Eco Park offers a range of eco-sports and is open to the public.

3. Eating Out
Genting Highlands Resort offers a choice of over 35 different food outlets that range from the plush Genting Palace to cozy food courts.

4. After dark activities
Other than high energy performances and international shows, Genting is also known for having the only casino in the region, the Casino de Genting.
