Planning to visit Batu Caves?
One of the most common mistakes I see from first-time visitors is arriving in clothing that doesn't meet the temple dress code.
Although Batu Caves is one of Malaysia's most popular tourist attractions, it is also an active Hindu place of worship. Visitors are expected to cover their shoulders and knees before entering the Temple Cave.
If you arrive wearing clothing that is considered too revealing, don't worry. Sarongs are available for rent at the entrance.
A few additional tips to make your visit more enjoyable:
✅ Visit early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds
✅ Bring a bottle of water, especially if you plan to climb all 272 steps
✅ Keep an eye on your belongings as monkeys can be curious and sometimes grab loose items
✅ Dress respectfully even if you're only visiting for photos
Batu Caves is one of my favourite places to introduce visitors to Malaysia's culture, history and religious traditions. With a little preparation, your visit can be both comfortable and memorable.
