🚨 Temporary Closure of Niah National Park Trails (13 July 2026)

Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has temporarily closed the trails at Niah National Park following a fire believed to have been caused by a lightning strike at the limestone hills near Kuala Gua Niah.

The fire has spread to two locations, creating a risk of falling rocks and unstable limestone formations near Traders Cave.

All visitors have been informed, and the park will remain closed until further notice while SFC continues to monitor the situation.

Visitor safety remains the highest priority.

𝟏𝟑 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐢 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) ingin memaklumkan bahawa pada kira-kira jam 9.00 pagi, pihak pengurusan Taman Negara Niah menerima laporan mengenai kepulan asap tebal yang dipercayai berpunca daripada kebakaran di kawasan bukit kapur berhampiran Kuala Gua Niah.

Berdasarkan maklumat awal, kawasan taman telah mengalami hujan lebat berserta kilat dan petir bermula sekitar 7.00 pagi, dan kebakaran dipercayai berpunca daripada sambaran kilat.

Pasukan pemantauan telah menjalankan pemeriksaan di lokasi dan mengesahkan terdapat dua (2) lokasi kebakaran, iaitu:

✅Bukit kapur berhampiran Sungai Tangap; dan
✅Kawasan tepi Traders Cave.

Hasil pemeriksaan turut mendapati kebakaran semakin merebak dan kedengaran letupan pada struktur batu kapur. Keadaan ini menyebabkan berlakunya risiko batu pecah dan gugur ke arah denai menuju Traders Cave serta kawasan sekitar gerai komuniti Tangap.

Demi keselamatan semua pengunjung, denai Taman Negara Niah ditutup sementara sehingga dimaklumkan kelak.

Semua pelawat yang berada di taman telah dimaklumkan mengenai situasi ini dan diberikan penerangan oleh pihak pengurusan taman.

SFC akan terus memantau perkembangan keadaan di lokasi dan akan memaklumkan sebarang perkembangan terkini dari semasa ke semasa.

Kerjasama dan kefahaman semua pihak amatlah dihargai. Keselamatan pelawat sentiasa menjadi keutamaan kami.
