Padre Pio ( also known as Saint Pio of Pietrelcina ) was a friar and a priest. Now venerated as a saint. He was canonized as a saint in the year of 2002 by Pope Saint John Paul II. He was born on May 25th 1887 and died on September 23rd 1968 in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy.
Since then, thousands of pilgrims visited the Santuary of Saint Pio of Petrelcina in San Giovanni, Rotondo, Italy where his Shrine is and are still visiting the Shrine until now.
Now, we have a Santuary of Padre Pio which is in Ulu Tiram, Johor. Every year, in the month of September, pilgrims from far and near will gather on this day to celebrate his feast day and the day that he died.
Last year, the santuary celebrated his 100 years of stigmata. The relic of his gloves that used to cover his stigmata wounds, was exposed on the feast day itself.
This year, the relic of St. Pio will be exposed again but its the relic of his bone.
