4 Popular Temples of NAKHON SI THAMMARAT Province, South Thailand
1) UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihaan, a temple dating to 8th century, the most important temple of the South and with a chedi enshrining Buddha relics.
2) Wat That Noi, of the late venerable Luang Por Than Klai, whose body is still kept in a glass coffin, undecayed since his passing in 1970.
3) Wat Chedi Ai Khai, of the famous temple boy (with his pet cockerel) and disciple of Luang Pu Thuat, popular for granting wishes of worshippers.
4) Wat Yang Yai, for worship of Ta Phran Boon, the hunter in legend that captured the Kinaree Manora (half bird, half lady). Now a place to pray for smooth business negotiations.
