MGPA at the 2026 Taiwan IP Expo — Sunway Oasis

We are pleased to share that the MGPA committee had the honour of attending the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Taiwan IP Expo at Sunway Oasis. Our President, Mr Ivan Loo, was invited to officiate the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Guest of Honour Ms Lien Yu-Ping, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, and Mr Lau Shaw Ming, President of the Malaysia Creative IP Association.

Attending alongside Mr Ivan Loo were Deputy President Ms Evelyn Hew, Vice President Mr Vincent Goh, Committee Members Mr Stanley Chai and Mr Terenze Eng, Secretariat General Manager Ms Suzanne Liew and Event Executive Ms Swen.

The delegation also attended the gala dinner the following evening, which featured product presentations by exhibitors, excellent networking opportunities, and a wonderful dining experience enjoyed by all.

Congratulations to the Taiwan IP Expo team for a well-organised and memorable event. We look forward to continued collaboration ahead.

On 18th May 2025, the MGPA Board of Committee lead by President, Mr. Ivan had the honor of paying an official visit to Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

The delegation was warmly received by MATRADE CEO, En. Abu Bakar Yusof, together with the management team. The meeting served as a meaningful platform to discuss the future growth opportunities for MGPA members, particularly in strengthening export readiness and expanding Malaysian gifts & premium products into international markets.

Both parties also explored potential collaborations to further support the development of the gifting and premium industry in Malaysia, including market access, export initiatives, industry development, and global business matching opportunities.

MGPA would like to express our sincere appreciation to MATRADE for the warm hospitality, valuable insights, and positive engagement throughout the session.

We believe this collaboration will create greater opportunities for MGPA members to elevate Malaysian-made products onto the global stage.

Together, we move forward in strengthening Malaysia’s gifting and premium industry internationally.

Malaysian Gifts & Premium Association put together a strategic only-for-bosses workshop on 6 March 2026 and invited renowned opinion leader, Prof LOH Wei Hoong （罗炜雄教授）to share his insights on "How SMEs Can Navigate the Storm," a presentation that was very rewarding and prompted the participants to rethink their positioning and strategies in this era of rapid change.

In today's fast-paced world, businesses without a clear strategy would have high risk of being swept away by the tide of change. Prof Loh explained the few waves that businesses will face in the future with a very clear framework.

In this rapid changing business environment, businesses need to focus on strategic value creation: Creating value → Delivering value → Exchanging value → Earning reasonable profits !

In uncertain times, businesses must return to their fundamentals. Understanding the trends, find the right positioning, develop a sound strategy, and execute it diligently.

Only in this way can SMEs have the opportunity to weather the storms and go further.

It was indeed a superb sharing session and all the MGPA member bosses took home something useful and practical to be implemented in their respective fields.
