⚠️ If you're planning the Nanu Oya to Ella scenic train ride in Sri Lanka — read this before you book! 🇱🇰

I recently travelled to Sri Lanka and experienced this famous train ride firsthand. And what happened? I fell down holding my 3-year-old daughter because of the rush to get in. 😔

Here's what your travel agent is NOT telling you — and what you MUST know before you go!

🚨 Confirmed ticket and confirmed reserved seat are TWO completely different things!

If your agent says your ticket is confirmed — ask them to show you proof of a RESERVED seat with your name on it. If they say "we'll arrange your seat when you get there" — do NOT trust that!

Here's how non-reserved seating actually works 👇

⏰ You must arrive at the train station 2 hours before departure
🧍 You must start queuing 1 hour before departure
🚫 Once you're in the queue — you CANNOT leave. Not even for the washroom!
😤 If you step out — you lose your spot and go to the back of the queue
🚪 The moment the doors open — everyone rushes in at once
🎒 Even after getting a seat — you CANNOT save a seat for your friend with a bag. People will remove it and sit down — because they also have non-reserved tickets!

During our 3-hour journey from Nanu Oya to Ella — we didn't even go to the washroom because we were so afraid of losing our seats! 😰

💊 That common medicine in your bag could get you arrested overseas — and most travellers have no idea! ⚠️

We all travel with cold medicine, allergy tablets and basic meds. But in some countries — those same medicines are treated like smuggled drugs.

No warning. No exception. Straight to jail. 😱

The biggest one that shocks everyone — Japan!

The active ingredient pseudoephedrine is classified as a stimulant under Japanese law. Even in its original sealed packaging — it's a crime.

So before your next trip — here's what you need to do! 👇

✅ Visit travel.state.gov/destinations — type in your destination and read the "Local Laws and Special Circumstances" section
✅ If a permit is needed — apply well before you fly. It takes several weeks!
✅ Always carry your original prescription & doctor's letter
✅ Keep medicine in its original packaging at all times
✅ Ask your doctor for a pseudoephedrine free alternative — Regular Claritin or Allegra without the D is generally safe
