The Red Leaf Monkey in Danum Valley refers to the Maroon Leaf Monkey (Presbytis rubicunda). Endemic to Borneo, it is a highly arboreal primate recognizable by its striking auburn fur and long, fluffy tail. They are primarily leaf-eaters (folivores) that spend most of their time in the rainforest canopy.

The Rhinoceros Hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros) of Borneo belongs to the nominate subspecies (Buceros rhinoceros borneoensis). It is slightly smaller than mainland species but possesses a unique casque that is sharply upturned and curls at the tip. It is an iconic symbol of Bornean rainforests and cultural heritage.

Rufous-collared Kingfisher (Actenoides concretus borneanus).

Bornean Subspecies: The Bornean population (Actenoides concretus borneanus) is notably darker overall compared to its mainland counterparts, and the females tend to have much more prominent, vivid spotting on their wing-coverts.

Gould's frogmouth (Batrachostomus stellatus)
is a rare, nocturnal bird native to the lowland rainforests of Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brunei). Known for its wide, frog-like mouth, it is a master of camouflage that avoids predators by freezing into the exact shape of a broken tree branch
