Colugos are shy, nocturnal, solitary animals found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Consequently, very little is known about their behavior. They are herbivorous and eat leaves, shoots, flowers, sap, and fruit. They have well-developed stomachs and long intestines capable of extracting nutrients from leaves and other fibrous material.

Mouse deer in Borneo, specifically the Greater Mouse Deer (Tragulus napu), are small, elusive ungulates that live in the forest. They are known for their small size, about the size of a rabbit, and their shyness. The Lesser Mouse Deer (Tragulus javanicus) is also found in Borneo, and is even smaller.

The large flying fox | Pteropus vampyrus

The impressive wingspan of this species may reach 1.5 metres, and the wings appear very broad when in flight.

This species roosts in large, noisy colonies, often in mangrove. Large flocks of many hundreds are known to migrate great distances in search of fruiting or flowering trees, sometimes on a seasonal basis.
