One of the most meaningful and important stops during a visit to Sandakan is the Sandakan War Memorial. This solemn site marks the original grounds where Australian and British prisoners of war, along with local civilians, were interned and forced into labor from 1942 to 1945 during World War II.

In the photo, Mr. Ken Ching, the group leader for these students from Hong Kong, provides an insightful explanation about the historical events that took place here.

This group is currently on a 4-day, 3-night educational tour exploring the rich history, culture, and nature of Sandakan.

A rare nocturnal mammal was recently spotted during our nightly walk activities at Bilit Adventure Lodge! The elusive Banded Linsang, a tree-dwelling, carnivorous species native to the Southeast Asian region, made a special appearance.
Sightings of such extraordinary wildlife are among the most thrilling highlights for our visitors at Bilit Adventure Lodge.

Yesterday is Anzac Day, it is a special day of remembrance and to commemorates all Australian and New Zealand soldiers who have served and died in military operations, in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions.
This annual event that was happening at Sandakan War Memorial.
ANZAC Day at Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia, is very special and solemn because of the deep historical connection to World War II — especially the Sandakan Death Marches.
