Learn more about this celebrated author by visiting the Agnes Keith's House marked at No.4 of Sandakan Heritage Trail.

Agnes Keith was not a British colonial-born writer. She was an American woman who came to North Borneo through marriage, but subsequently developed an extraordinary personal connection with Sabah.

Her 1939 book Land Below the Wind transformed her observations of North Borneo into a work known internationally. The phrase “Land Below the Wind” subsequently became strongly associated with Sabah and is regarded as the state's tourism tagline!
