A truly memorable visit to the beautiful Sandakan Vanilla Ecofarm with STAN‘s members, where nature, sustainability and passion come together. From learning about vanilla cultivation to sampling the delicious vanilla pudding and ice cream, it was simply perfect for a short weekend getaway.

Open daily from 9am to 5pm, this is one place that you should not missed in Sandakan!

A big thank you to Sandakan Tourism Association for kindly bringing our SIMDF participants on a special tour around Sandakan! 🥰

Beyond the stage and competition, we’re so happy that our participants had the opportunity to explore, experience and discover the beauty of Sandakan. 🌴☀️

From our local heritage and beautiful surroundings to the warm hospitality of our people, we hope this little journey gave our participants wonderful memories to take home with them. ❤️

SANDAKAN: After 25 years in music, Shila Amzah is looking forward rather than back as she prepares to bring familiar songs into a more intimate and jazz-influenced setting at Sepilok Jazz 2026 this weekend.

“I do not want my 25th year to feel like I am looking backwards, I want it to feel like another beginning,” she told the Daily Express.

DO YOU KNOW AGNES KEITH IS AMERICAN?
Learn more about this celebrated author by visiting the Agnes Keith's House marked at No.4 of Sandakan Heritage Trail.

Agnes Keith was not a British colonial-born writer. She was an American woman who came to North Borneo through marriage, but subsequently developed an extraordinary personal connection with Sabah.

Her 1939 book Land Below the Wind transformed her observations of North Borneo into a work known internationally. The phrase “Land Below the Wind” subsequently became strongly associated with Sabah and is regarded as the state's tourism tagline!
