Ever wondered what those green Nitrox tanks at the dive center are actually for?

A lot of divers think Nitrox makes your tank last longer or lets you dive deeper—but that’s not really how it works.

In our latest blog, we break down:

What Nitrox actually is
The difference between EANx32 and EANx36
What “longer no-decompression limits” really means
The most common misconceptions about Nitrox diving

Whether you’re newly certified or already Nitrox certified, this guide will help you understand it properly.

Read the full blog through the link in our bio.

And if you already dive with Nitrox… would you recommend it to other divers?

Most divers know they shouldn’t exceed their NDL.

Yet if we’re being honest, it probably happens more often than people admit.

Have you ever gone into deco by accident?
What happened?
Did you know exactly what to do?
And do you think divers pay enough attention to their NDL?

Ghost pipefish: proof that the ocean loves camouflage.
Despite the name, ghost pipefish aren’t actually pipefish — they’re more closely related to seahorses.
Some fun facts about these strange little drifters:

🫧 They often mimic crinoids, seaweed, or soft corals to stay hidden.
🫧 Females are usually larger and carry the eggs under their tail fins.
🫧 They are weak swimmers and rely on currents to move around.
🫧 Their colours and shapes can adapt to match their surroundings.
🫧 Their main defence is camouflage, helping them avoid predators like groupers, scorpionfish, octopus, and other reef hunters.
🫧 Spotting one in the wild usually means your guide has a very good eye.

We are looking for the next Dive Center Manager at Scuba Ju**ie Sipadan.

This is a hands-on role. You will spend time organizing operations, supporting the team, helping guests, solving problems, and keeping the dive centre running smoothly day after day.
Some days run perfectly.
Some days you solve five problems before breakfast and still somehow end up laughing about it during sunset drinks
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, leading a team, solving problems, and keeping things moving without losing the fun energy that makes dive life special.
You need to be:
• a certified PADI professional
• experienced in dive operations and team leadership
• comfortable managing both local and international staff
• organised and confident with logistics, scheduling and admin
• comfortable using Google Workspace tools
• calm under pressure and solutions-focused
Most importantly, we want someone with good energy. Someone approachable. Someone who leads from the front and helps create a positive atmosphere for both guests and staff.
This role comes with real responsibility, but also the chance to live and work on Mabul Island, be part of a long-established dive operation, and join a company built around diving, conservation, community and adventure.

We offer:
• private accommodation
• meals included
• work visa provided
• 2-year contract
• salary of RM8,000–RM10,000 depending on experience

If you are the kind of person who sees challenges as part of the adventure rather than the end of the world… we would love to hear from you.
Send your CV and a short introduction to:

First photo: the reaction.
Second photo: the reason.

Honestly… who wouldn’t be happy when the guide finds a Shaun the Sheep nudibranch during the dive?

Not everyone will realise what’s happening here… but this batfish is basically taking a shower.
Cleaner fish remove parasites, dead skin, and leftover mucus from bigger fish at what divers call “cleaning stations.”
And yes — the fish usually stay very still and seem to enjoy the whole experience way too much.
Nature is weird, clever, and honestly pretty relatable somet

Air consumption is one of the most talked about topics in diving.

It is also one of the most misunderstood.

Somewhere along the way, comparing tanks became normal. New divers feel pressure when they use more air. Others feel proud when they come back with more.

But scuba diving air consumption is not a competition.

It is influenced by many things. Weighting, buoyancy, conditions, equipment, and how comfortable you are underwater. It changes from dive to dive, even for experienced divers.

When we focus too much on numbers, we miss the point.

Diving is not about who uses the least air. It is about awareness, control, and enjoying the experience safely.

We wrote a new blog about this because it is something many divers experience but rarely talk about openly.

If you have ever felt judged, compared, or frustrated about your air consumption, this one is for you.

Read the full blog. Link in bio.

Have you ever felt pressure around your air consumption?
