“AI grades everything now” is a common claim. It’s not entirely accurate—and that distinction matters.
AI is genuinely useful for the repetitive parts: sorting objective answers, spotting patterns across a class, cutting down marking time. What it can't do is tell you why a specific student is struggling, or notice the shift in someone who's usually chatty and's gone quiet.

The myth isn't that AI helps. It's the idea that helping means it understands your students the way you do. It doesn't, and it's not meant to.

The definition of literacy has expanded. Reading a page is no longer the full picture. Today it includes navigating information, evaluating sources critically, and using digital tools with genuine intention.

This shift has direct implications for how educators approach curriculum and classroom practice, particularly as more instruction moves onto digital platforms.

September reminds us that a strong reading culture in schools must be built consistently.
"Bulan Gemar Membaca" isn't simply about encouraging learners to read more. It is about creating an environment where reading feels relevant, accessible, and enjoyable.

BPS looks at reading habits through several indicators, including reading frequency, reading duration, the number of books read, and internet access.
For educators, this creates an opportunity to look at how reading fits into everyday learning.
It might begin with an engaging piece of reading.
A discussion after reading.
Or simply allowing learners to choose what they want to read.

Because when reading becomes a habit, its impact doesn't stop at the final page.
