The Javan, Malayan, and Bornean black-capped babbler were thought to be the same species all grouped as the black capped babbler until 2021 when they were split into 3 separate species. The Bornean black-capped babbler pictured are similar to their neighboring counterparts found in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests however they are endemic to Borneo. Chunky and thickset they often rummage through leaf litter and scurry about on the forest floor.
