This World Elephant Day, we’re celebrating Mozambique’s gentle giants and the people working to protect them🐘 Our elephant population has more than doubled since 2018, rising from 9,114 to approximately 21,700 according to the latest national census.

Did you know? The piano famously linked to Bob Dylan’s song “Mozambique” is housed at Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort. It originally stood at the former Santa Carolina Hotel (also known as Paradise Island), where Dylan reportedly wrote the song during a visit to Mozambique in the 1970s.
